How Psychotherapy Works
Psychoanalytic work is based on the recognition that not all our thoughts, feelings and motives are transparent or known to ourselves, and that the unconscious aspects of our minds can disrupt our conscious intentions and contribute to our suffering.
As a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist I will therefore endeavour to pay close attention to the emergence of unconscious processes and attempt to help you consider those unacknowledged aspects of yourself and possibly find a new attitude in the relation to them.
This process may help to considerably reduce conflict and personal suffering.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy aims to expand the capacity to feel and to find new ways of thinking about yourself. The process invites you to consider and explore the impact of your behaviour on yourself and others.
As a trained therapist I offer myself as a person with whom you can build a relationship. Within our relationship as in any relationship various issues will emerge which we will reflect on and think about together as they may throw light on the dynamics you experience in your other relationships.
Our sessions will offer you the opportunity to gradually explore your past experiences and in time to understand how they continue to influence you and impact your present life. At a deeper level you will discover some of the unconscious processes, wishes and desires which drive your behaviour, thoughts and conscious feelings. This in turn can encourage and create within you a more inquisitive and empathic relationship with yourself.
